With joy and deep appreciation, do I announce my graduation from medical school. The result of my final MBBS exam was published on fri 24th of june 2013 and i’m one of the successful candidates.
We shall be taking the physicians’ oath while being inducted into the medical profession on a date not announced yet (this june). I really appreciate WMF for contributing immensely and critically to whatever becomes of me. My family extends their regards too. I can say that WMF has equipped me with what it means to render selfless service to humanity. It still confounds me and, of course everyone who cares, that people whom by no means i’m related (except by love for humankind) became the last resort of hope! I couldn’t see WMF, but i could see what they have done, I could feel their love, I could touch the fund, i’m most amazed! I am certainly challenged to see lifting others as a reason to live and have satisfaction.

Thanks to WMF.
Okolie Johnson Chinedu.

However, later on in my room after moments self actualization, tears were dripping down my cheeks. Finally a childhood dream had come true and it was getting more real that i had gotten a life time change in my life that will enable me to contribute to many lives through Health care services. Because WMF gave me this opportunity, i pledge to provide love and care to all the sick that will be under my care.
Thank you WMF for enabling me to achieve my ever desired dream. God bless Tom, Carol and the entire team.
Currently am waiting for my internship placement and i will report on 6th/may /2013. It is very demanding and usually the little facilitation from the government comes after 4 months. Apart from the possible challenges during internship period before getting government facilitation i wish to officially let you know that i have finished my course. Thank you for all the support you have given to me.Dr Felix Kawooya

HOW WILL I THANK WELLS MOUNTAIN FOUNDATION? MY STORY

It all began in June 2010 when I was looking for support to pursue my studies in Hardware and Network Engineering at IPMC an ICT giant in Ghana as my initial idea but later on changed to Emergency Medical Technician course. I looked for support everywhere and it was not fore coming, one day as I was surfing the net I came across WMF which offers scholarships to third world countries and I felt a bit relieved. I followed the application procedures and processes and in August 2010 I had an email from WMF informing me of my selection. I completed the final documentation and my scholarship grants were wired into my account and my life began to change.

I am Gaani Michael Dimongso the eldest son of my parents who are blessed with nine children. I have since completed my study, passed my exam and have been certified as Emergency Medical Technician Advanced (EMT-A) and working with the National Ambulance Service that responds to critical emergencies an agency of Ministry of Health. Through WMF my dream has been fulfilled and I am saving lives and touching souls THANKS to WMF.

But what is my story? Before becoming EMT-A, my Father knew that education was the key to success, so after my Senior Secondary School, my Daddy went in for a loan and financed my tertiary education to study Higher National Diploma in Statistics at the Bolgatanga Polytechnic, with the hope that I will secure gainful employment after completion, but our hopes were does off after completing the program successfully with second class upper. I joined the unemployment queue which kept on growing day by day, month by month and year by year from 2006 to 2010 without any gainful employment. My father was later arrested and sent to court for failing to settle the loan he took to financed my tertiary education. I was depressed, confused and scattered.

Thank God WMF scholarship has turned events around, I am gainfully employed with my EMT-A certificate and have paid all outstanding debts and my old man who is now 68 years is free. What a relief? But there are many more colleagues in rural Ghana who are equally going through the problem I went and for that matter I will in the coming months outdoor an organization to support brilliant but NEEDY students in rural Ghana, and to support the study of Mathematics and Science also in Rural Ghana which has proved to be a Filter in these communities. I have therefore set a certain percentage of my net salary to begin with and will want to be affiliated with your organization in the near future. My story is long but I will pause and come back later.

In fact Mr. Thomas Wells has become my god-father. To All WMF scholars, study hard and think of what you can do to change lives.

–Michael Gaani

Below are some photos of the community work during the Federation of African medical students association (East African general assembly) where i was the chairman for pre-conference activities that were community based: Malaria prevention campaigns, HIV/AIDS awareness, counseling and testing, Promoting Family Planning, Maternal and Child Health, Community Hygiene and Sanitation promotion, Health promotion and education and Safe male circumcision. Having been the leader of this exercise, I got an opportunity to improve my skills in community mobilization. The exercise went on for a period of one week and yielded good results. 2029 people were counseled and tested for HIV, 437 men were circumcised, 131 women received long term family planning methods; 1050 patients were treated and 236 women came for antenatal care, and health education and promotion were carried out in 7 secondary schools. A total of 140 medical students were involved in the exercise.

From the conference I started my rotation in internal medicine after which I will do the final examinations to complete the 5 1/2 year struggle. I will be done by April according to the (KIU) school programme and I hope for the best.
