Since completing her studies in November 2016, Alpha Pokharel of Nepal has not spared a moment to rest! Alpha is a graduate of nursing science from Nobel Medical College and running full steam ahead to make a difference in the lives of others throughout Nepal.
Her first activity was participating in a collaborative program between the University of Tempere, Finland and the Institute of Medicine, Nepal to earn a diploma in global health. The Global Health Course (GHC) is an international and multidisciplinary training program in Global Health which is funded mainly by the Finnish Ministry for Foreign Affairs.
“It was wonderful experience as I learned more about so many public health issues around the global. We were even taken for a field visit in the earthquake affected district of Sindhupalchowk.”
Her second professional involvement as a recent graduate was her participation in the Bangalore Boston Nutrition Collaborative program! Alpha traveled to Bangalore, India to learn intensively about nutritional research methodologies. The program is sponsored by collaboration between Harvard University (USA) and Tufts University (USA), and St. John’s Research Institute (India).
“It was a international course so there were many participants from other countries too! We were taught everythingthat we need to consider while doing research in nutrition. I am all poured with knowledge and all set to do a research in nutrition!”
