To support literacy, we donate books (at cost or free) to numerous organizations that work with children and young adults.  These recipients include the YMCA in Haiti, Addison County Back-to-School Shop, Children’s Aid and Family Services in Bergen County, New Jersey, Read to Know in New Jersey, Native American schools in Montana, and The Tari Shattuck Foundation in Bristol, Vermont.  If you know of a group in the continental United States that would appreciate a donation of books, please let us know.

Book Angels Program

Imagination Library

The Book Angels program began in 2000 at Deerleap Books in Bristol, Vermont. Each year we receive hundreds of children’s names from social service agencies in Addison County, Vermont.  WMI orders a large quantity of books based on the interests of the children whose names were submitted. WMI staff select the “perfect” book for each child.  The agencies then deliver the books to the children during the holidays.

Thanks to you many local families in need will be able to expose their children to the wonder of reading. You have made a huge difference in many young lives. – Helping Overcome Poverty’s Effects (HOPE)
