July 2008

Trip planned to Port-au-Prince and La Caye, Haiti. Tom and Jordyn will be accompanying a group visiting YMCA of Haiti programs and Proje Espwa. Meetings are also set with present scholarship student Gaspar Edmond and prospective scholarship recipients.

Wells Mountain Foundation website receives a huge facelift. New brochure is also in the works.

February 2008

Annual Board meeting held in Paramus, NJ. Board learns that we successfully completed our first ever fundraising appeal mailing. If we raised $25,000 from other donors, the Bolger Foundation would increase it's $25,000 gift to $50,000. Thanks to our wonderful donors, we were successful at meeting the challenge by raising over $31,000.

Shipped out a load of free pre-school books to Read Now program of Children's Aid and Family Services, Paramus, NJ.

November 2007

Jordyn Wells, our Africa Program Coordinator, returned from her trip to Senegal and Ghana to check in with our scholarship students, help the Senegal YMCA celebrate their 25th anniversary and attend the JAC's 4th Annual Theater Spectacular. The trip was a great success.

September 2007

WMF joins forces with Addison County Readers to organize and sponsor the Imagination Library program in Addison County, Vermont. This program mails a free book each month to every area registered preschool child from birth to age 5----60 books! We hope to spread this to other areas.

June and July 2007

Artwork by the JAC youth was on display at the Bobcat Café in Bristol, VT for the month of June and July.

March 2007

Work from JAC's youth was exhibited in “Pathways to Imagination and Confidence: Student Art from Ghana and Haiti” exhibition at the Ridgewood Library in Ridgewood, NJ.

Our exhibition of artwork by JAC's children and youth was on display at the Bobcat Café in Bristol, VT for the entire month of August.

August 2006

Tom, Carol and Jordyn Wells' trip to Senegal and Ghana was a success! In Dakar, Senegal we visited the YMCA of Senegal's new camp Berdine, attended the dedication of their new multi-purpose courtyard and met up with the participants of the Ridgewood YMCA's International Camping Program trip. In Accra, Ghana they attendeded the grand opening of the new JAC Multi-Media center and visited with two of our WMF scholarship recipients in the Volta region. Jordyn stayed on until the end of August to lead a photography and darkroom workshop for JAC.
